22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
This course is applicable to a range of settings where emergencies involving allergic reactions may occur. It is relevant for people working in childcare, education, aged and community care, sport, tourism, hospitality, industry enterprises and other environments.

The course covers First Aid management of anaphylaxis as well as risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis.
COURSE CONTENT
​The course contains two units:
VU23090 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis. This unit covers:
• Triggers, signs and symptoms of mild to moderate allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
• Emergency response to anaphylaxis, including ASCIA action plans.
• Use of adrenaline autoinjector devices
• Communicating details to emergency services and incident reporting procedures
• Evaluating the response to an anaphylaxis incident

VU23091 Develop risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis. This unit covers:
• Development of individual anaphylaxis management plans
• Risk minimisation strategies for allergies
• Communication plans to raise awareness
• Record keeping and documentation
TIME ALLOCATION & FEES
Time allocation: Approximately 2-4 hours.

* Note that the minimum age requirement for completion of a First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis certificate is 12 years.
ACCREDITATION
On successful completion of the training and assessment, participants will obtain a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit of competence:
